The best outdoor venues in London for your next Summer Party
British summertime is unlike anything else in the world. You’ll recognise its arrival with the sudden appearance of khaki shorts, sweaty tube rides, an abundance of Pimm’s and the overcrowding of pub gardens. For a city so often deprived of Vitamin D, we Londoners surely know how to maximise the sunshine in the summer months. So whether you are looking for a casual warehouse shindig, a rooftop terrace with spectacular views, or plenty of outdoor space for a drunken game of croquet; we’ve rounded up London’s sunniest party venues just in time for summer party season.
The Tanner Warehouse
Tanner Warehouse is a characterful converted 1800s warehouse right in the heart of bustling Bermondsey. This architect designed conversion is kitted out with leading tech and first-class catering facilities, while exuding all of Bermondsey’s industrial charms. Exposed brick, eccentric furniture, a lovely outdoor space, and plenty of rooms and levels to choose from, make the Tanner Warehouse a great option for summer parties. The kitchen is led by Executive Chef Ronnie Murray, who has decades of experience working in London’s top kitchens. They also have a fully stocked bar that is crewed by Tanner’s highly trained booze engineers.
The Tanner Warehouse is great if you are looking for a venue that has it all. This spacious, colourful, and creatively designed Industrial Warehouse will have all of your event needs covered under one roof, so there’s no need to look around for external suppliers.
Market Hall Victoria, Victoria
Occupying the old Terminus Place in Victoria Station, Market Hall Victoria puts every effort into paying homage to the unique history of the space it occupies. Terminus Palace has had its fair share of incarnations, but somehow we fill like it is this one that’ll stick. The building features a unique blend of robust industrial elements and decorative Victorian details — all of which have now been lovingly restored and highlighted at every possible opportunity.
We love a good conversion, and Market Hall Victoria has done an amazing job of bringing the building’s original features to life. From reinstating the original arcade shopfronts, reinforcing the original exposed beams, reworking the curved timber ticket stall as a customer service point, and restoring the stained glass windows and roof atrium; perfect for a sun-soaked summer party that’s also protected from the elements.
Market Hall Victoria also offers a wealth of different independent food and drink suppliers, so there’s something for everyone’s tastes. Some of their vendors include Baozi Inn, Monty’s Deli, Flank, Squirrel, Kerbisher & Malt, Koya Ko by Kora, Gopal’s Corner by Roti King, Super Tacos from Breddos, Nonna Tonda, Fat Tony’s, and Bunshop from The Marksman, as well as Fanny’s Kebabs and Press Coffee.
Eccleston Yards, Belgravia
Located in the newly converted Westminster Electrical Supply Corporation, Eccleston Yards is a buzzy outdoor space that’s a hub for Belgravia’s up and coming creative scene. While the yard is filled with quirky restaurants and lifestyle brands, inside the old electrical plant is now home to Wild by Tart. A new ‘farm to fork’ restaurant concept, with plenty of vegetarian/vegan options, helmed by Jemima Jones and Lucy Carr-Ellison - fashion’s favourite sustainable caterers.
Not only is Eccleston Yard very centrally located and just five minutes away from Victoria Station, it also boasts plenty of outdoor space and foliage while still exuding an urban industrial vibe. We think the combination of a central location, ample outdoor space, beautiful indoor space, and existing sustainable caterers on site makes this perfect for a boozy afternoon summer party.
The Postal Museum, Farringdon
The Postal Museum is a treasure trove of interactive galleries and exhibitions, filled with the fascinating stories of Britain’s postal heritage; but did you know it is also home to one of London’s most unique event spaces?
If you’re looking for a Less Ordinary venue for your summer party, then definitely check out The Postal Museum for a space that’s both unique and historical. The Courtyard at the Postal Museum features a living wall and plenty of space for afternoon cocktails - and is great for an outdoor summer party. Although, if the weather turns sour, then inside, the Mail Rail is a great indoor option as well. The Mail Rail, was once a vital artery of Britain’s postal network, and now is a versatile subterranean bank that has plenty of distinctive architectural features. For a truly unique experience, party guests can also hop on an underground miniature train ride of the old Mail Rail tunnels underneath the city.
The Oval Space, Bethnal Green
There are plenty of amazing outdoor spaces in the East, but The Oval Space definitely takes the cake. This is the perfect blank canvas for any summer party. With over 7000 sq ft of space, panoramic windows, and the breathtaking industrial views of the Bethnal Green gasworks, The Oval Space is as East London as it gets. Need we say more?
